Past, present, and future
Taipei Music Center is funded by the Ministry of Culture and operated by Taipei City Government. The first site in Taiwan created for and wholly dedicated to the preservation and development of music in Taiwan, the center contains a Concert Hall accommodating up to 5,000 people, an Cultural Hall presenting the history of popular music in Taiwan, and a Creative Hub which will serve as an incubator for young musical talents. TMC combines music and culture. More than just a performance venue, it is also a cultural nexus for the music industry. Initial plans for it’s construction began in 2003, and the collection of artistic and informational pieces began in 2013. The Concert Hall is due to open in late 2020 and the Cultural Hall and Creative Hub are due to open in 2020 & 2021. Going forward, TMC will work to develop Taiwan’s international relationships and will support musical talents from all around the world.
